A very special baby girl was delivered unto this Earth in Sacramento, California on this day in 1953. The babe's parents named her Kristina Marlana Wallace, but you can call her Poison Ivy.
Poison Ivy Rorschach is easily one of the hottest women in music. For the last 3 decades, she has been rockin' n' shockin' onstage with psychobilly pioneers The Cramps, alongside her larger than life husband, Lux Interior. Sadly, when Lux departed this mortal coil on February 4, 2009, he took the future of The Cramps with him. Now that the irreplaceable frontman is gone (but never forgotten), the amplifiers have fallen silent, the drum beat no longer keeps time, and the adoring fans stand perfectly still before the stage.
Thank gods for the 15 album legacy The Cramps were thoughtful enough to leave behind.
Bonne fête, Poison Ivy... Rock n' Roll Goddess.

And a HUGE b-day wish from me too... most rocker d00ds would probably never admit that Poison Ivy had any influence over their own guitar dabblins', but she did on me for sure, as much so as any of the over amped male "guitar heros" of the axe slinger world. She's a true legend among legends (plus she looks as cute as someone else I know in her lil pussy cat costume!)
Happy Birthday Poison Ivy!!!
PS: Did you just say "gods?" haha

You must be referring to my tigger hat! I love that hat. Best $2 I ever spent!
And, yes, I said "gods." After our conversation last night, I couldn't resist!
It was always my dream to meet someone like her and fall in love together, but there ain't no one like her.
You done said it, Jerry!
>but there ain't no one like her.
I can think of someone.

Gaye Advert?
;o)
She still rocks!
I just surfed in, most groovin' blog you have.
When I was young, a few howling moons ago, I used to live in NYC, played in a band, blah, blah. One of my fondest memories about being in a band was, well, being in a band! What a tight little gang!
All these years later, memories fade. One doesn’t, though: one fine memory comes to mind easily - tooling around Manhattan in a band-mates car through late summer night, windows open, Goo Goo Muck playing at tip-top volume - us all hanging out the open windows, thinking we were so totally on top of things. It sure didn't last long, but it did happen.
The Cramps made us feel so completely there.
So, absolutely, Happy, Happy belated birthday, Ms. Ivy. The girl that was always as good as it gets. - Mykal
Ivy is great. One of the most under-rated/overlooked guitarists. The Cramps were great. Saw them about 10 times - each show more special than the last. I hope she is doing well, and knows that there are a great number of people that think very highly of her.
Sad to hear about Lux passing, Hope Poison Ivy is holding up well.
