The Pig is Dead: Susan Atkins Expires at 60

Manson Family member and murderess Susan Denise Atkins (aka Sadie Mae Glutz) succumbed to brain cancer late Thursday, September 24, 2009. Denied her last chance at parole on September 2, Atkins had been incarcerated longer than any other female in the state of California at the time of her passing. Although Susan was originally sentenced to death, her sentence was commuted to life in prison when the United States Supreme Court temporarily outlawed capital punishment in the 1970's.

Sadie Mae Glutz claimed to have found redemption in Christianity. With the help of her husband, attorney James Whitehouse, Atkins recited religious verse at her September, 2009 parole hearing. In spite of her best efforts to appear remorseful, reformed, Atkins remained one of the world's most hated women. Appearing before a parole board in 2000, she stated: "I don't have to just make amends to the victims and families, I have to make amends to society. I sinned against God and everything this country stands for." Her last publicly-spoken words before her death: "My God is an amazing God."

Unfortunately, God must have been on vacation when Atkins and other Manson Family cronies brutally murdered actress Sharon Tate and her unborn son Paul Polanski, along with Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Voityck Frykowsky, Steven Parent, Leno LaBianca, Rosemary LaBianca, and Gary Hinman.

"I don't know how many times I stabbed (Tate),
and I don't know why I stabbed her.
She kept begging and pleading,
and begging and pleading,
and I got sick of listening to it, so I stabbed her."

Susan
was born on May 7, 1948 in Los Angeles. The runaway teenager met Charles Manson while living in a commune in the Haight Ashbury district. Manson re-named her Sadie Mae Glutz, and helped deliver her baby after she became pregnant by one of the other "family" members. He named the child (a boy) Zezozose Zadfrack. To date, the child's whereabouts are unknown.

Since her incarceration, Atkins married twice: once to an eccentric Texas millionaire, and then to Whitehouse, who, in spite of his obvious mental issues, graduated from the ultra-prestigious Harvard Law School. Before Atkins died, Whitehouse served as one of her attorneys.

Rest in pieces, Susan (one of her legs was amputated for medical reasons -- did I forget to mention that?). I hope your brain cancer was delicious!

I grow so tired over the flotsam who claim to "find god" while in prison and how their "salvation" means they erased all of the bad things from their karmic blackboard.

"God must have been on vacation when Atkins and other Manson Family cronies brutally murdered actress Sharon Tate and her unborn son ..."

Indeed.

Pax: I think it's the selfish nature of humankind acting here. Notice the language used: "MY God is an amazing God." Oh, great. She got the amazing God, while I got stuck with a lazy, Deadbeat Dad.

Speaking in terms of practicality, I bet those who "find God" get parolled a whole lot more often than those who find Allah.

Even though I'm an atheist, I'm willing to accept that Atkins found God in prison. Prison was the only place she ever had any constancy or had to answer for her actions. Prison is where she became a human being again. She was little more than a child when Manson found her and sculpted her and it's as great a crime as the one she committed that she was used in this way.

To ever let any of these people free is to say to the world that nothing really matters. And we don't want to say that.

Arbo: I'm certain she found God in prison, being that it's one of his favourite hangouts. I think he's even in a darts league...

As much as I'd like to scoff at your "sculpted" theory, I really can't, because both of my parents loved and cared for me in the best possible way they knew how. I would like to say that, given the same set of circumstances as Atkins, I would do differently, but I cannot.

Yeah, I can't find it in me to give a shit about any of the Mansonites, let alone Manson himself. I'd much rather live in a world where Sharon Tate has been alive all these years and made a bunch of other great movies for me to watch her in... instead of having to listen to overrated Charlie spout one more idiotic word while dancing around like a douche.

So disturbing and sad even after all these years... What a world.

I hope she burns krispy style in hell....

Karswell: So, I should probably return the Charlie Don't Surf t-shirt I got you for Christmas? Seriously, though, I totally agree with you.

Meredith & Chris: I don't recall having seen you folks around this blog before -- thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you back for more!

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I may be capable of doing a lot of fucked up things but none of those things would ever involve stabbing a pregnant woman to death and trying to cut the baby out of her. Sharon and her baby deserve to rest in peace. Susan Atkins? If there's a hell, I hope she spends it there being cut to pieces over and over again.
Those who "find God" certainly get paroled more often than those who find Loki or any of his cronies. ;-)

Well-said, Lily. Bring the mayhem! And may Loki be with you :o)

On the other hand, it appears that Charles Manson will have the longevity of fucking Gandalf The Grey...

He wants to stick around long enough to cut an album with Beyonce and watch it go quadruple platinum.

"If you liked it then you should have spelled out PIG in it's blood..."

" Nothings shocking "

These people get more attention, credit and notoriety than they really deserve.
